plyr for Android (com.plyraudio.plyr) · Last updated: 30 August 2026

plyr is a music player that plays audio from folders on your device and from SFTP servers that you control. It has no accounts, no cloud service, no analytics, and no ads. This page explains, in full, what data the app handles and where it goes.

Summary

  • plyr does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data with us or with third parties.
  • Everything you enter or the app derives (server connection details, your music index, playlists, favourites, downloads, cache) stays on your device.
  • Network connections are made only to the SFTP servers you add yourself, and — if you open a theme link — to plyraudio.com to download that theme file.

Data you provide

To connect to a remote library you enter SFTP/SSH connection details for your own server: host name or IP address, port, username, and either a password or a private key (with optional passphrase). You may also select local folders on your device.

Where it is stored

Connection details and credentials are stored exclusively on your device, in encrypted storage backed by the Android Keystore (AES-256, Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences). They are never sent to plyraudio.com or to any third party. They are used only to open SSH connections to the server you configured, so that plyr can list and play your own files.

The following data is also kept locally on the device and nowhere else:

DataPurpose
Folder/file index of your sourcesOffline browsing and full-text search
Playlists, favourites, hidden foldersApp features you use
Playback queue and positionResume where you left off after a restart
Streaming cache and permanent downloadsSmooth playback on poor connections; offline listening
Wi-Fi vs. mobile byte countersShow you your own data usage
Selected themeAppearance

Uninstalling plyr deletes all of this. You can also remove individual sources, downloads and cached data inside the app.

Network activity

  • Your SFTP servers. Audio streams, downloads and directory listings travel directly between your device and the server you added, over SSH. We are not in that path and cannot see it.
  • plyraudio.com (themes only). If you open a https://plyraudio.com/theme/… link, the app fetches that theme's JSON file from plyraudio.com. This is an ordinary HTTPS download; the request contains no personal data or identifiers beyond what any web request carries (your IP address, which our host processes to serve the file and does not use to track you). The app never contacts plyraudio.com otherwise.

plyr contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking libraries of any kind.

Children

plyr is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.

Changes

If plyr ever changes how it handles data, this page and the app's Google Play Data safety section will be updated before the change ships, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
